Jose joined Ozark Regional Vein and Artery Center in August of 2021. "I did not know what I was getting into, but I did know that it was meant to be. It was the right place, the right time, and the right circumstances." Jose had worked at the ED for about 9 years, and he was able to rotate through the dialysis clinic part time about two days a week. He worked at both facilities for about three years, then stopped working with dialysis patients due to the increased need at the emergency department.
The emergency department was a great adventure for him. The first six month’s he remembers arriving to work early so that he could pray before work. "I was so scared of getting sick patients and not knowing what to do. It was overwhelming and exciting at the same time. After a few years of working at the ED, I was assigned as a charge nurse, so my anxiety and excitement took over once again. The first day I almost passed out (I am not kidding). I forgot to eat all day. I remember it was so busy. I had to transfer a trauma patient and like two neuro patients to higher level of care." Jose had not received any training on being a charge nurse. The charge called in that day, and he was the only one capable, with the most experience in the department. After a few years of working as a charge nurse he stepped up as a manager for Mercy Bella Vista and Mercy Springdale emergency departments. Jose worked as a manager for both ED’s until he came here and joined Dr. Haney and Dr. Stout to assist with Endovascular work. And the adventure continues…..
