What are Spider Veins?

Spider veins, also known as Telangiectasia, appear as a collection of small, colored veins near the skin's surface.

They're typically blue, purple, or red, and their patterns often resemble a cobweb.

Causes of Spider Veins

Heredity is the number one contributing factor that causes spider veins.

Other factors include aging, obesity, leg injury or trauma, standing for long periods of time, pregnancy, menopause, or hormones.

Symptoms of Spider Veins

Spider veins are usually painless, unless they're accompanied with varicose veins.

Most people are simply unhappy with the appearance of the small clusters of veins.

Sclerotherapy

This treatment is 95% effective; however, it requires several sessions, and often times veins can look worse before they improve. If an ultrasound scan proves you have venous reflux disease in the affected veins, we can typically work with your insurance to cover the cost of sclerotherapy.
