A mediport prevents a patient from being stuck with a needle countless times during ongoing treatment where venous access is needed.
Mediports are inserted under the skin, usually on the upper right side of the patients’ chest.
The device consists of a small circular septum that has a silicone top so medications can be inserted into a catheter tube leading directly to a vein. This also is used to draw blood out of the same septum area.
