A mediport can prevent a patient from being stuck with a needle countless times during ongoing treatment where venous access is needed.
Mediports are inserted under the skin, usually on the upper right side of the patients’ chest.
The device is consists of a small circular septum that has a silicone top that medications can be inserted into, that travels down a catheter tube leading directly to a vein. Blood can also be drawn out of the same septum area.
