Discover The Relief Provided From Enhanced PRP Injections For Knee Arthritis

Knee arthritis typically presents itself slowly as we age. The joints begin to deteriorate, leading to rigid, painful knees that can impact our daily lives. When an injury happens naturally, the platelets in your blood stream rush to the injury site to begin repairing and healing whatever damage was caused. You may now understand the bigger picture of why enhanced PRP is so effective. We’re using your body’s defense system at a super concentrated level to repair damage or deterioration in a specific area of concern.

Yes, there are the more commonly known different approaches to knee arthritis such as lifestyle modifications, OTC medications, physical therapy, or worst case – knee replacement surgery. Our staff at Ozark Regional Vein & Artery Center would like to offer you an easier, minimally invasive option that has produced fantastic results. By making use of the body’s natural healing ability, we utilize the Arthrex Angel PRP System to create enhanced PRP typically up to 18 times stronger platelet counts, versus regular PRP that generates 2 to 8 times baseline platelet counts.

How Does Enhanced PRP Knee Injections Work?

Enhanced PRP knee injections in Rogers at ORVAC are designed to eliminate pain from knee arthritis at it’s source. Arthritic knees are something that no one wants to deal with, that’s why we’re here to say you don’t have to deal with it any longer.

Enhanced PRP knee injections are a highly effective approach to find relief fast. First we’ll start by drawing a small amount of blood from a vein in your arm. The syringe is then put into the centrifuge for 5 minutes to create the process of spinning down the blood, separating the plasma from the red blood cells, that are needed for treatment. The Enhanced PRP is then transferred to a larger syringe to prepare for injection. The injections are quick and nearly pain free. Typically within days, patients notice results that relieve symptoms like pain, inflammation, and general knee mobility.

Pre-Procedure

Once you arrive for your appointment, we will check you in, then take you to a patient room as soon as possible. A member of our team will verify we have all of your information necessary to proceed. Our staff will begin the process by placing a tourniquet above the blood draw site, and then prepping the skin by sanitizing the venipuncture site with an alcohol pad. Next, the first step of the process will begin for Enhanced PRP Knee Injections in Rogers.

The Procedure

An expert staff member will draw a small amount of blood needed from your arm to complete the first step in the PRP process. After the blood draw is complete, we will place the vial directly into our centrifuge system for approximately 5 minutes. The centrifuge will spin the blood in the vial at 1,500 rpm, which separates your plasma from your red blood cells. The Arthrex ACP transfers the plasma into a smaller syringe, in order to prepare the concentrated, healing platelets back into your knee joints. Our Nurse Practitioner will then sterilize your knee, and begin the injection process. Once all PRP is injected into the target areas, the treatment is complete.

Post Procedure & Recovery

One of the many benefits of Enhanced PRP Knee Injections for Knee Arthritis is there's minimal to no downtime! Almost all patients can return to their work or everyday life, with some encouragement from our providers to try to take it easy for 24-48 hours post injection. Side effects are extremely uncommon with PRP treatments, as we are simply using your body's own natural properties to heal itself.
