Frequently Asked Questions
Related to vein symptoms & treatment
Are vein treatments covered by insurance?
Yes, we accept most insurance providers. If venous reflux is found with varicose veins, most insurance companies consider it to be a significant leg problem, and they almost always cover treatment (minus your deductible and copays). However, spider veins are considered cosmetic by insurance providers and are typically not covered by insurance.
Do you have financing options?
Yes! We accept Care Credit and Compassionate Finance. We can guide you through the steps to apply in-office or over the phone for low monthly payment options.

How long does geniculate artery embolization take?
Like any medical procedure at Ozark, the answer to this question will vary. A number of variables, like your condition and treatment goals, may affect how long the geniculate artery embolization procedure will take. Generally, however, the treatment will likely take less than 2 hours. We do recommend that you take the day off of work, especially if you have a physically demanding job. While geniculate artery embolization is not a seriously invasive surgery, it may take a week or two before you’re completely back to normal.

Does geniculate artery embolization hurt?
Different patients have different thresholds for pain, irritation, and discomfort, but you will likely not feel any serious pain during the procedure. For this reason, you should not need to go under anesthesia during the procedure. That said, you may receive an IV with some pain relievers. You will be conscious during the surgery, but you will be comfortable throughout the process. It’s important that you’re relaxed during your treatment, so be sure to let your provider know if you’re experiencing any discomfort.

Are there steps I can take to aid the recovery process?
Following the completion of your geniculate artery embolization treatment, your provider will give you some basic postoperative recovery instructions. We highly recommend taking it easy in the days following your treatment. You should refrain from excessive or intensive exercise, including manual labor. Additionally, you should bring someone to drive you home after your procedure. Don’t rush your recovery—you don’t want to interrupt your body’s natural healing processes. Talk to your provider if you have any questions about post-operative care.
